The McCarty remains a staple of the PRS range, hailed for its versatility, reliability and of course its stunning yet understated appearance! This model combines an alluring Gold Top finish with upgraded vintage-style 'Wing' tuners and vintage-voiced Low Turn pickups.
This McCarty model features a mahogany back, ensuring plenty of weighty low-end emphasis and soaring sustain. A maple top complements with top-end resonance and clarity, with a violin carve to accentuate those signature PRS curves.
The neck employs a Pattern design for easy access and comfortable playability. It uses one-piece mahogany for the back of the neck and rosewood for the fretboard, adding an alluring dark look that contrasts with the striking finish. The rosewood ensures a little extra tonal warmth, as well as typically velvety-smooth playability - combine this with the mahogany body and you have a perfectly rounded, wholly versatile sound that's tough to match!
This guitar is dual-loaded with McCarty LT (low turn) humbucking pickups, designed to electrify the guitar's tonewood combination with a luxuriously vintage voice, ideal for blues and classic rock. You have a 3-way pickup selector with push-pull tone control, so you can make the most out of your pickups without complicated controls.
This McCarty model boasts 'Wing' design non-locking tuners; lighter than their metal predecessors, these tuners subtract less energy from the vibrating strings, helping the guitar resonate longer and more musically. Not to mention the extra touch of beautiful detail!
Ted McCarty is widely regarded to have had a huge effect on the PRS ethos; bringing his wealth of old-school experience to the table in the 1980s, the McCarty guitar was eventually introduced in 1994, embodying all of his knowledge and techniques in a single, inspiring instrument.
