PEAVEY produced the VANDENBURG CUSTOM between 1988 and 1989. It was a more expensive version of the Signature model. Differences from the basic Signature model were: "Custom Vandenberg pearl inlays", a thinner neck profile, wider frets and the fret board was available in both ebony and flame maple. The Vandenberg Custom has a one piece mahogany body which is slightly thinner than the Signature, and the top is more arched. The 2 piece laminated maple neck has an elongated set neck join extending through the body. The single coil in the neck position is a stacked humbucker (the Peavey HCS hum canceling system). The volume pot for the bridge pickup is a push pull type which coil taps the humbucker. The finish on the back of the neck and the headstock matches the body.
